What is ModCon?

ModCon is a private invite-only convention for active enthusiasts and practitioners of extreme body modification. It is both a social event, a learning event, and a place to come and get modifications done. It caters to procedures such as subincision and male genital splitting, castration, ampuation, heavy implant and beading work, and female genital cutting, as well as related procedures such as tongue splitting, heavy piercing and tattoo work, and 3D-art implants. ModCon is hosted by Shannon Larratt and BME. Non-disclosure agreements are signed by all who attend, and no media or outsiders are permitted.

How do I get an invite?

In order to maintain security, to receive an invite to ModCon, you must be known to Shannon Larratt as a practitioner or active enthusiast of these modifications (ie. you have to have them or do them). The easiest way to do this is by submitting pictures to BME of these modifications (visit BME to do that). Once you are a member of BME, visit Shannon's personal diary page and request to be added to the ModCon forum, which is where plans for upcoming events are announced. This forum is also an excellent place to get to meet other people involved in the world of heavy body modification.

Past ModCons

ModCon 99 took place May 24, 1999 in Toronto. The next four ModCons would all also take place in Toronto, although future ones are not expected to. ModCon 2000 took place June 24 and 25th, 2000. ModCon III took place June 21-23, 2001. No ModCon was held in 2002 for fear of prosecution due to the high profile of the ModCon book. "ModCon 3.5", a small female-cutting centred event was held in the summer of 2003, and ModCon IV (also a smaller event) was held in the summer of 2004. Both of these last two were hosted by Shawn Porter.

ModCon Media

The first and second ModCon produced a photo book which very quickly sold out its printing of approximately 600 copies. This book also came with a VideoCD of procedures done at ModCon. ModCon III produced a much larger book in an edition of 2,500 which is nearly sold out (available here) as of this writing. This book was also translated into Japanese (available here). A ModCon DVD was also produced but is currently sold out. Watch here and on BME for future reprints.

Photo Gallery

Below are some photos from various ModCons indicative of the type of people who attend. More are in the books. Some of these photos were taken by Philip Barbosa, with the remainder being by Shannon Larratt and from the BME archives. Please do not repost these pictures.
